India’s ambitious Semiconductor Mission (ISM) has taken another giant leap forward. On May 5, 2026, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved two landmark semiconductor projects worth a combined ₹3,936 crore, expected to generate over 2,200 skilled jobs.
Crystal Matrix Limited (CML)
Dholera, already hailed as India’s premier semiconductor hub, will now host India’s first commercial Mini/Micro-LED display manufacturing facility by Crystal Matrix Limited (CML).
- Focus: Compound semiconductor fabrication & ATMP (Assembly, Testing, Marking, Packaging)
- Technology: Gallium Nitride (GaN) based innovation
- Capacity:
- 72,000 sq. meters of Mini/Micro-LED display panels annually
- 24,000 sets of RGB GaN wafers annually
- Applications: Smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, automotive displays, and XR (Extended Reality) glasses

Suchi Semicon Private Limited (SSPL) – Surat Project
The second project, located in Surat, will strengthen India’s semiconductor supply chain through an OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) facility.
- Capacity: Over 1,033 million chips per year
- Applications: Power electronics, EV battery management, industrial automation, and consumer appliances like ACs and laptops
This ensures India builds resilience across both front-end and back-end semiconductor processes.

With these approvals, the India Semiconductor Mission now hosts 12 projects, totaling nearly ₹1.64 lakh crore in investments.
For Dholera, this adds to the massive momentum already created by the Tata Electronics–PSMC Fab (₹91,000 crore).
